Christine Kirkegard is a visual artist and educator. Her tertiary Fine Art education and Academic Profile extends from Diploma and BA Fine Art Queensland College of Art Griffith University to Master of Creative Arts (Painting and Drawing) Wollongong University and PhD Doctor of Philosophy (Thesis & Painting Practice) James Cook University.
Exhibiting since 1986 her work has been shown in 39 exhibitions including solo exhibitions at Cintra Galleries 1990s, Metro Arts 1980s, Qld Regional Galleries 2009 – 2011, and group exhibitions nationally and overseas including prestigious National Award exhibitions such as Tattersalls’ Landscape Prize where she was a finalist in 2004,2005,2006 and 2007.
Christine works in a variety of media while specializing in painting the landscape and the human form. Recently she has been an award winner in the 2012 and 2014 Agnes and Harold Richardson Drawing Prize and Overall Winner of 125th RQAS Annual 2015. She was also a finalist in the national 2014 Noosa Regional Gallery Art Award and the 2014 Queensland Figurative Art Prize.
Now a full time artist Christine has extensive experience as an art educator. Selected professional history includes Director of the Arts Academy Queensland 1990 -2006 and Drawing Lecturer Film School Queensland College of Art Griffith University 2005 – 2011.
